Scripting shell setup (Windows only)
The following directions will help you create a "shell" icon in your script directory for easy command line access.
Step one: Copy the directory to the clipboard

1. Open Windows explorer

2. Highlight the directory path by keying Alt-d or clicking the Address field once.

3. Copy the path by keying Ctrl-c or right-clicking and selecting Copy.

Step two: Create a new shortcut

4. Right click in your script directory and selct "New shortcut". Make sure you click in an empty space in the large pane on the right side.

5. Type the command line program name ("cmd") in the location field.

6. The next screen resolves the name to the executable. Replace the default "cmd.exe" with the nicer to read "Shell". Click "Finish".

Step three: Change the "start in" property

7. Right-click the new icon and select Properties.

8. Highlight the "Start in" field by keying Tab, keying Alt-s, or clicking on the field once.

9. Paste the directory path copied in step one by keying Ctrl-v or right-clicking and selecting Paste. Click OK.

10. Double-click on the Shell icon to start a local shell.
Hint: if you have installed perl, use the command "perl -v" to see if it is installed correctly. If so, the "v" switch will return the version of your installation.)
