5/7/07: Ph.D. Dissertation Defense The UAMS Department of Orhtopaedic Surgery and the UALR/UAMS Joint Bioinformatics Program invite all to the dissertation defense of Sudeepa Bhattacharyya, M.Sc., entitled "Discovery of Osteoporosis Biomarkers by Serum Proteomics". (Download Flyer}
 
Mrs. Bhattacharyya was recently awarded the DCISSE Student Excellence Award, winning among all Ph.D. students at UALR Donaghey College of Information Science and Systems Engineering.

4/20/07: ARBIOS Meeting
The Arkansas Bioinformatics Society (ARBIOS) is the Central Arkanas Chapter of MCBIOS (www.MCBIOS.org) whose mission is to foster networking and collaboration in the area of bioinformatics and promote the professional development of its members, especially its student members.

ARBIOS's agenda for the 2006-2007 year includes exciting events like bioinformatics networking meetings, social meetings, a fall picnic, a regional symposium and outreach programs. Membership is free to this society and open to anyone with an interest in bioinformatics.

Speakers
Speakers of interest to bioinformaticists are identified at the website for BINF 7193: Bioinformatics Graduate Seminar. Among these are the UALR Biosciences and Bioinformatics Seminar Series, which is held at 4pm on Mondays, the UALR CyberCollege and College of Science and Mathematics Colloquium Series, held on Fridays at 3pm, and several seminars sponsored by UAMS.

MCBIOS conference
The annual conference of the MidSouth Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Society (MCBIOS) is held during the spring in different locations throughout the sever-state region. The 4th annual MCBIOS conference will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, Febuary 1-3 2007, at the University of New Orleans' Lindy Boggs International Conference Center.
