Biography
As a student of physics and mathematics, I developed a very quantitative approach to scientific inquiry. I attended a series of talks on DNA sequencing algorithms as an undergraduate and discovered that there was a newer, more quantitative biology as well. This led me to bioinformatics. Being such a diverse field, a wide variety of problems may be approached and important new insights gained that would otherwise be impossible.
