Proposed Professional Certificate in Bioinformatics (PCB)
A Professional Certificate in Bioinformatics is currently under development for post-baccalaureate students who complete the following courses or their equivalent:

Note that these courses correspond to the course requirements of the UALR undergraduate Minor in Bioinformatics. Waivers may be given for some of these courses if they were part of the student's prior degree program.

* Note that this course is taken for graduate credit.
+ Note that Inorganic Chemistry is a prerequisite.
Proposed Graduate Certificate in Bioinformatics (GCB)
The proposed GCB has the Professional Certificate in Bioinformatics (PCB) as a prerequisite.

The GCB consists of one graduate-level course in each of the three cores: biostatistics, computer/information sciences, and life sciences (since students will already have taken BINF 5445 as part of the PCB, they will have taken one course in each of the cores). Additional requirements are two credits for BINF 7295: Practical Topics in Science Management and two credits for BINF 7193: Bioinformatics Graduate Seminar (one credit each semester).

Students are advised to choose courses carefully under the guidance of the Program Director so that they could become part of a well-planned MS degree program should they decide to pursue that option at a later time.
